(Not a typo because it is clear that Ramsey Avery is steeped in The Lore Of The Rings - it was the only way for it to work.)
If you have just finished watching Lord Of The Rings - Rings Of Power, you might have spotted the name Ramsey Avery at the beginning of each episode. Ramsey is the Production Designer for the series. I was delighted that he agreed to come on to the People First Podcast to share his thinking on what it means to be a Production Designer and maybe even more importantly why part of his work was crucial to honoring Tolkien’s writing.
It was particularly interesting to hear Ramsey talk about the importance of ‘Language’ to Tolkien.
Languages developed by Tolkien were created by him in order to make his worlds feel real.
~ Ramsey Avery
Of course, if you are paying attention, you will know that I think language is important in our world - which is why it is one of the 8 pillars of People First.

There are some future conversations already in the hopper that feature Ramsey, so if you aren’t already subscribed to the People First podcast, you can do that here to listen through your ‘podcast player of choice’.
This first episode featuring Ramsey talks about his career, his work on Rings of Power and what he is up to now ... spoiler alert ... you are not going to be disappointed. Phase Six anyone?
Future episodes will see us diving into the role of AI in the film world and whether business at large can take any lessons from the world of entertainment when thinking how to organise the enterprise for the next 100 years.
I think there are a lot of lessons.
